Mt. Talinis: A Refreshing Escape to Negros’ Rainforest

1903 MASL
Major Climb
Philippine Difficulty 6/9
Dauin-Valencia Trail
I have written this years after the hike so the indited parts are mostly from what I can remember about the hike. Unfortunately, I can no longer remember the expenses that we incurred unlike the other hikes but the story is still worth writing.
DAY 1
This was my first major hike was with Bukal Outdoor group in Mt. Talinis. The jump-off point was at Dauin where the group was transported in pairs by motorcycle.
At the registration area before the start of the climb.

Quick click and smile while we still can lol.

As expected, the first part is always like a never-ending uphill.
Rest and savor the view from afar
More rest for the group
Foggy haven, we’re inside the mountains embrace now
This is a rainforest so rain, rain all the way
An abundance of ferns, trees, and plants along the trail
Rest and click again
Along the way, there’s this tree trunk shaped like just as how you see it.
Moss-covered trees
There’s a lake at the bottom just covered by shrubberies
Greens, green everywhere
Lake Yagumyum, too cold for a swim
Continued hike towards the campsite.
Lake Nailig and campsite
More of the beautiful lake.
There are two areas where the group can camp, this is the second area a little far from the lake.
This is the other campsite, super near to the lake. This is where we stayed the night.

Day 2

We stayed the night near Lake Nailig and there was this kind of scary story. In the middle of the night, we heard some splashing near the lake as if someone’s taking a bath (it’s not allowed to take a bath there as it will pollute the waters). We talked to the rest of the group and someone did hear the same thing as we did but no one took a bath at the lake, it was raining that night and as guessed, no one is that brave to battle the cold. So the question, what could we have heard that night?
Home beside the lake
Getting ready for the second day of hike
Chilling before going to the peak
More of the campsite
We left our bags and proceeded to the summit.
View at the Summit
No clearing by the time our picture was taken
More of the view from above
Continued hike to the second campsite
Sulfuric river
The place smelled of rotten eggs
More pictures of sulphuric lake
Proof of struggle
The last picture that was taken on the third day before all of our phone batteries died.
